Sadly my getting home was not much fun tonight, had a little incident with a pedestrian on Haymarket. I had a guy decide to walk out onto the road as I was approaching so I slowed down and he halted on the other side of the road... as I got closer he changed his mind and decided to run for it across my path, I hit the brakes and the guy makes contact with my right hand wing-mirror (and indicator judging by what's left), bike goes down. Luckily 3 coppers saw all the action and run over. After making sure I was OK, they quickly assure me they saw the whole thing and that there was nothing I could have done. After being checked over by an ambulance crew they have to take a statement from me just in case the idiot decides to make a complaint later about me. Apparently pedestrians cannot be held responsible for running out in-front of vehicles and in fact by law I am responsible for his idiocy!!!!

Luckily if the guy does make a complaint I have three coppers and my mate who was following me to give witness to the fact that I did nothing wrong.

That sucks big hairy balls.

Can't you take people to the small claims court for this sort of thing? (If there's enough damage to warrant it that is)

Dunno, not enough damage to warrant it, crash bung did its job. Besides, I have no idea who it was as he legged it from the scene.

that's a downer on the evening, if you need any help fixing things just shout, aside from that it was nice to see a few faces that have been missing of late, nice warm evening to.

Cheers Mark.

Thats rather sh1te Dave it does really p1ss me off that we have to take massive responsibility for everything we do down to the smallest detail, yet pedestrians can be as reckless as they like and we have to foot the bill, what would happen if your bike got written off, your left with no bike, increased insurance premiums etc, they walk away scot free.

IMO, you should be held responsible for your actions regardless of whether your, riding, cycling, driving or walking.

Hope the bike ain't too damaged.

Luckily it really isn't that bad, I was almost standstill by the time I made contact with the guy so nothing except for the indicator was damaged, the wing mirror just got pushed back.

Which is bloody lucky really considering I'm trying to part ex the damn thing at the moment!

Left or right indy? and are the the standard ones?

If its the left front (as sitting on the bike) then its your lucky day and I have one in the garage - I gave the other one from the pair to Spidey last night...

Lest me know and We'll work out how/when to get it to you.

Well, that's my annual trip down to Frith St. out of the way for another year!

It was good catch up with people last night and hopefully see you all at the Christmas party in a couple of weeks.
