Why not learn how to use the brakes properly? Even if you had ABS you should still practice braking.

I think you'd probably win a claim, you were engaging in a legal manoeuvre, she didn't watch where she was going and yield the right of way as she should. However I don't think you should, it will cost you more over next 5 years or more due to it, and morally it is stuff like this that makes everyone's insurance expensive, there is no real damage (you can still ride it right) so not worth a claim.

If it's just your lowers that are scratched just bin the lowers when you come to sell it. They don't add any value at all at resell.

Yeah you're right, now I've had time for it to sink in I did brake too hard on the front and should have known better, just instinctively did it as it was all close quarters, I didn't snatch as such but wasn't slow enough for the conditions

I am swaying towards no claim, I can ride it now but have no back brake to speak of. I really need a new rear brake lever at the very least, the part for my foot to push down on was snapped clean off

Thanks for that pearl of wisdom, I might well do that although there is a scratch on the right flat edge of the front fairing that I need to clean and polish to see what is what...

I have had the very same sort of crash, little too hard on the front and down you go. That will happen unless you practice locking the front and recovering. Very safe to practice, very dangerous to practice while heading towards a car.

For back brake you can fit a repair peg by davie SV, very easy and cheap.

right, I see what you mean... definitely worth having one under the rear seat regardless but I do need to source the real deal from somewhere soon...that's gonna sting...

No you don't, repair peg not fixer peg... it is permanent and OEM looking repair.

Oh, okay, I'll look into it tomorrow...but I suspect that won't cut it as where a peg would screw onto the lever there is nothing there, the arm snapped off. Just going to take a pic with the flash now...
