I'd personally like too see much better discussions on what the best route to Proportional Representation is - I currently think yes to AV is the way, but not impressed with the arguments so far.

I think you're right, if only in the sense that people would see that it's possible to change the voting system without the sky falling in.

However, if you're pro-PR, it's difficult to be pro-AV (unless you're a Lib Dem, apparently).

Not really, that poster requires you to make the assumption that the people who voted to go to one of the pubs would then prefer to go to a pub other than their first choice as opposed to the coffee shop. That is an assumption that is unfair to make thus rendering that argument invalid and false.

The one with the most votes should be the way it is. Even the current system is a bot pants that they have to have a percentage etc. If a party wins by one vote, then they should run the country. The AV system is worng, and too complicated.

But what you'd actually end up with is cheap watered down instant coffee or a can of Panda Pops shandy.

The problem is that both sides are campaigning with a load of tosh like that beer / coffee poster, which just confuses people rather than informs them, and those that have done their own research know it's bullsh1t and ignore all the adverts.

Having said that I think the FA cup final should be decided by adding up all the goals scored against the two finalists in the whole of the competitions......come to think of it that would be b0llock and you'd end up with the team with the best goalkeeper rather than the best overall team.

We can't have a system where the person who the majority of people don't mind the most gets in......we vote FOR someone you like, not who you're indifferent to.

So if A gets 8 votes, and B & C get 7 votes each 14 people don't want A but are stuck with him/her. 65% don't want A

AV to put it another way, you go into a pub and ask for a pint of Carling but the Carling is off but you are willing to accept Carlsberg. Sounds like AV isn't such a bad thing. You might not get what you want but you get something you are willing to accept. Do you get that with First Past the Post?

Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose. My views are aligned with the party I vote for, that's why I vote for them.

Maybe I could accept it if there was some kind of weighting that meant my second vote counted for less, but this way some people's votes will be counted up to 4 times, while others will only be once. Just doesn't seem right.

10 people vote for a, 9 vote for b, and 6 vote for c, a wins simples. you don't go then counting those with yellow socks and giving them another vote
