On a serious note I hope you start enjoying it soon. Would be quite nice to have an SV1000

so, the right hand fork is stripped and on my bench. Looks like the rebound damper adjustment is nothing to worry about, there is a lock nut on the top of the cartridge that needs to be positioned a set distance along the thread before attatching the fork cap assembly, it had probably been set to the incorrect distance last time it was fitted. The effect of this is that the adjuster on the top of the fork needed to be wound in much further to hit the stop.
The fork oil looks like old dishwater, time to replace. The manual specifies the Suzuki Fork oil L01 or equivalent. Anybody know what this is equivalent to? I'm guessing its a 5w oil or thereabouts. |

I think so.
Putoline HPX 5 (race grade) seems to be the best on the market

I’ll be interested to see how you go on with the handling of your K3. I’m well happy with the K5 I have. Eloise has done 14 trackdays in standard trim and is plenty good enough for my talents. The rear shock is getting a little tired and is probably too soft and is the first thing that will get some therapy. I have a full GSXR 750 K5 front end ready to go on but just can’t be bothered at the moment. The front brakes work well with a good clean, new fluid and HH pads. Ground clearance can be a problem on track and I’ve gone right through my toes sliders and into the boots at Anglesey and Donington. I’ve got a second hand set of Gillies to fix that ( still got to fit them as well ). My mate has some pretty poor video footage of quite a few laps of the thou in action at Mallory. I’ll see if he can upload it to youface at some point and drop you a link. If you got the standard tool kit with the bike there is a 36mm spanner in there for the rear axle. Heres a couple of pics or Eloise in action.

With that locknut don't try measure, wind rebound all the way out as far as it will go, then wind it in as much adjustment as you want (2 turns is ample). Then spin the cap+rebound adjuster assembly down the rod until it bottoms (that is the rebound adjuster bottoming against it's seat), back off a c*ckhair and then nip up the locknut. Very easy to set both exactly same exactly where you want this way.
