My first car, 1986 Mk2 VW Jetta 1.8CL, in mars red, upgraded it with Audi quattro wheels, GTI suspenders including rear axle (with anti roll bar) GTI seats, steering wheel etc. Payed £1200, almost a write off twice, repaired myself got £800 when traded in after 2 years of abuse, saw it a week later on side of road in London for £400, was tempted to buy it back!

Well it aint till you look back at the crap we used to drive that you realize how good the cars are these days,
My first car was a hillman imp(crap, head gasket rust ect) then i got a morris marina(not much better) and that was followed by the first reliable car i owned a mrk 3 cortina 1.3 push rod engine 85mph flat out with wind behind you and down hill, i say reliable, compared to the other 2 but it did rust away very quickly |
