Nice post KJ, one with a bit more perspective. As a Dad of a daughter, I can totally see where the slap him / dump him sentiments come from, but I think you have hit the nail on the head.
Bri, deep sympathies mate, it's not easy when your kids (at any age) are unhappy. Best of luck. |

Man's a selfish A-hole. Your daughter should sell everything he's recently bought and clear the credit card put the rest in to an account he can't get his hands on. If things don't balance up other things of his should be sold to make up the difference, a few CD's won't be missed...
then dump him!!! ![]()

+1 to a few of the previous posts.
Gutted for your daughter Bri, he's effectivly robbed her IMO. If he's going to be as responsible as a kid then treat him like one, your daughter should make her self in charge of all thier money and he should get an allowance out of thier combined funds. If he sees the error of his ways he should comply, if he doesnt then he may well decide to leave whcih makes the choice a little easier on your daughter. Obviously I'd also sort though all his belongings and flog the lot, leave him with nothing other than clothes and mutual possesions (tv etc). |

I'd like to rearrange his hair with a baseball bat, or at least rip into him but as I said to D2, if I do and you two get back together I'm suddenly the nasty person.

At least if they do make up he'll know he's not too big to get a bo11ocking.
Would be a great oportunity to sucker punch the son in law though. *knocks on door, he opens it and smack then before he's realised wtf is going on demand "sit down we need a chat" then rip into him, use your managerial skills to emotionally destroy him before resolving it with a brew and an action plan. |

My dad was the best - he'd listen, give an honest opinion when it was asked for and understand that i'd go off and do things my own way. Oh, and hugs in abundance!! We cant live our kids lives for them. Sounds like shes got a sensible head on her shoulders, if I were you Bri then be there for her but dont get too involved.

I have two daughters myself and while the oldest one is only 17 and therefore hasn't had the heartache that your daughter has suffered, she's still been out with a noob who I could quite easily have throttled. I think what your daughter needs is a dad who is going to listen to her and understand what she must be going through right now. She needs to know that there's at least one bloke in her life that she can rely on and turn to when things are bad. |
