I think Auto is the future for the majority of cars, possibly bikes as well, I'm not sure.
But they'll always be manual versions to enjoy as well. Autos are getting better and better all the time, and they're now much faster at changing gear than we are. |

Theres nothing better on a long trip than an auto, whacking on the cruise control and catching 40 winks

I've never driven an automatic, but the last one I was in was a supercharged VXR8, now that had pretty poor MPG. (about 10 if you were even slightly pushing it. |

Last auto I drove was a Ford Escape, driven them before in many other cars. The temptation, especially with power steering, is to drive one handed and get a taxi driver's tan on the other arm. Apart from that laziness (and the fact I tend to let off the gas in preparation to shift even when I don't have to) I don't mind them at all.
My parents always had them (my mother doesn't like manuals) so when my dad bought a car for himself he asked for the very unusual option (!!) of a manual for his Chevy Cavalier. It had a 'shift up' light in place of the tacho which drove him crazy. |

I hate manuals, I last drove one several years ago, where I decided that the best thing to do with the gear stick was either throw it out of the window or insert it somewhere the instructor wouldn't like
![]() Why fanny about with a stick when you can chuck it in gear and get on with it? My dad has always loved autos, although his current A6 is manual, he was converted by a Ford Granada ![]() I would not ever ride an auto bike however...but then I rode first before I drove, and thats just wrong to even think of an auto bike!

Buy it! Orange seats and all. Just be prepared to get through front tyres at an alarming rate (even with AWD the S60R eats tyres for breakfast). We're on our second Volvo - not the most dynamic cars we've ever owned (that's what the bikes are for) but the most comfortable by far.
