Fallout its easy.

Motosliders. Easy to fit, easy to replace, easy peasy full stop.

Designed proper like too, cover the fairings

Pretty much do exactly what they say on the tin so to speak!

Cheers Dizz. I'll have a poke about on ebay and the like. If they're the proper deal, I bet they'll be heavy on my man purse though.

Cheaper than R&Gs, don't be put off because they're imported from the US. Last lot I got, were here in 6 days.

IIRC on ebay they're called engine sliders or something like that.

Do they take some abuse then? I also like the idea of resting my lanky old limbs on them on long journies. I wonder if I'll be able to reach the ones on the front wheel.

Had R+Gs on my fully faired pointy - when I crashed they worked fine right up until the point the bike wedged itself under a car, that's when the fairings all got smashed.

I put a Hepco and Becker rollcage (mahoosive cradle type crashbars) on the Versys as soon as I bought it but when it fell over the bar end and pannier took all the brunt of the drop with nothing else showing any marks - the crashbars were 5 inches off the ground. If I hadn't had a pannier to do the job they would have saved the fairing/indicator from damage, as demonstrated by less fortunate Versys owners.

Out of interest, and perhaps I'm missing something - can anyone explain why bungs are so expensive?

I appreciate that the potential savings versus having to buy new fairings etc is substantial and I don't doubt that (subject to laying the bike down the right way) they do work, but that alone doesn't really explain the cost of what, to my simple mind, looks like a relatively simple bit of kit.

£60 - 90 odd for a couple of plastic blobs and some glorified bolts seems quite a lot - is there some hidden nano-technology and years of crash-lab R&D I'm failing to appreciate? Or are bike productions so small that any part is inevitably expensive? Or is it just the case that 'bikers will pay over the odds so lets keep charging over the odds'. Cynical, me?

My number 1 son dropped his new CBR 125 R on the way back from the Honda dealer where we'd booked it in to have the bungs installed. He wasn't hurt

Bit of a bummer after a Dad and Son bonding ride of 100 miles with no problems and loads greasy spoon stops. It's all fixed and he has R&G bungs now, like his Dad.
