Thanks for a very good answer.
I'll have to check all this on my way home from work, I can't go check it now since it does it only when properly warmed up. But I am quite sure that the sound does not go away when I pull clutch lever, but still I'll double check it on my way home. In case if it would go away after pulling the clutch, what that would mean? |

Well, on my way home there was something new because the noise started from pretty much begining of the ride even when the bike was cold. But since I had to be at home on time and meet my landlord I didnīt have much time to check it.
After I was at home for an hour or so I went for a ride just to investigate as much as I can. I rode about 2 miles on a big parking lot to listen to it but there was no noise....so I took it for another 2 miles or so and the noise came. Stopped at the parking lot a started to investigate. The noise: - does not go away when I pull the clutch lever - is better hereable on the left side of the bike rather than on the right side - it looks like it is somewhere on top of the front cylinder or between both cylinders (???) - itīs loudest while the engine is revving 4,5t rpm - it reminds me some kind of a resonation Than I stopped the engine and try look around the bike. Coolant level is fine and looks still since I put some in about 300 miles ago. The engine oil level on the other hand is weird.... I always just checked it if there is not too little oil in it and never really waited once the level was settled (probably stupid think). Now I did it and found out that there is too much engine oil. There is no level to see through the engine oil check window, it is completely full (when the bike is fully vertical). I checked the oil filler cap if there is any sign of emulsion and there was none at all (so hopefully water is not coming into the engine oil). I spoke to Spanner man on the phone this afternoon and am going to meet him in his shop this Saturday. I will rather not ride the bike till then and hope that it will make the journey.....bloody hell it sounds like a terrible nightmare...and I thought I was buying myself a fun and pleasure.... ![]() Anyway...in the worst scenario...that the engine will be dead or would require serious repair, I am not from UK so donīt know local laws much, since I bought the bike just a week ago, is there any chance that seller will have to take the bike back or pay for the repair? Since I own it for such a short time which could mean that seller just wanted to get rid of the bike because of this problem maybe? Edit: I tried to catch it on the phone...itīs not like in reality but it still gives some idea, especially about 12th second it starts to be heareable quite well. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NJU5g...pm2mix-Kt7NusB Last edited by mufman; 05-03-12 at 08:42 PM. |

Sounds like the same as my bike, the front CCT is normally louder as the rear is silent as it is bathed in much more oil. Mine has been making a similar noise for well over a year with no ill effects, like people have said very unlikely for a CCT to go. Get it checked thought for peace of mind.

It looks like I have a final result on this noise issue, which is very positive for me. From few independent judgements I was told that the engine is a bit noisier but that still quite nothing abnormal for these engines and that it doesn't look like there is something wrong with it. So it's a big relief for me and maybe I should buy some aftermarket exhaust can soon that I will hear less engine noise and more exhaust noise
![]() I would also want to publicly say BIG THANK YOU to Sid Squid here who has been very helpful and spend quite a lot of time with me on this. It was also nice to meet you mate. Thanks! |

You're welcome, pleased to be able to your mind at rest. Good to meet you too.
