Congrats mate!

I'd get a refund on the receiver box now as you'll need a man cave to use it

Congrats matey

I was going to say (as I work in Tesco direct) you'd be supposed by how popular our more expensive range (wedding rings ect.) is, the quality is great in the higher end stuff, just be wary over the cheaper (sub £100) things.. Think green! :P

Anyway congratulations again, enjoy the new start in life!

Congratulations, but just remember you have now set yourself up for the nightmare that is wedding planning.

Congratulations!

I got a 2nd hand ring a couple of years ago wanting to get a nice ring on a budget. When sorting out the wedding I would say one thing:

You can't please everyone, no matter what you do, so have the wedding YOU want to have, and don't let family or friends influence the shape of it. Me and my wife went to Italy last year, taking no family at all, and just 2 witnesses each. It cost an awful lot less than average and I wouldn't change it. Our family were great about it too. Wedding rings thankfully usually work out as less than engagement rings (not needing precious stones as default), and I got a Tungsten Carbide ring, for, I think £38 online, as damned if my ring was going to cost more than hers just because boy's rings are bigger.

Congrats again!

I was chatting to a mate today who gets married in August. He's spent every weekend over the winter being dragged to meetings about flowers, cake, favours, order of service printing etc etc and he has had enough of it already. His parents are interfering even though they aren't paying anything towards it too.

Jambo is right, have YOUR day. Don't get into debt to please everyone else. Jambo and Jo had a lovely informal evening after they got back in a nice little pub for their friends and we all had a great time. It was just as much fun as formal dos and Mrs Jambo looked gorgeous and most importantly - relaxed!

Absolutely. Costs a fortune too, I don't get people spending £25,000 in this climate on one day. Crazy.

Registry office FTW - were both atheists
When we do get married it will be a small family on afair and will be done for a few hundred quid. Not that im tight but im not getting int massive debt to feed 100 people for one day and at the end of the day i don't need to spend 1000s on flowers, 1000s on booze etc to say I love someone.

Someone I know spent 15k for his weeding day and will be paying the loan off for another 10years for one bloody day, its mad. Even if i had 15k in a saving account id go on a holiday for a few grand and pay the rest off the mortgage or get a new bike.....

Anyway cheers for all the comments
