Have you looked at the main 30A fuse in the starter relay, green cover box behind the right side black triangle. It's not unknown for corrosion in there to cause overheating and meltdown.

It's well worth checking the condition of all the other fuses in the tray on top of the battery, clean all the fuse blades and put a spot of either dielectric grease or vaseline on them.
