I only spent as much as i did (£4200) because I wanted a Italian V twin 1000 before I'm too old to enjoy it.

The most expensive bike i've ever bought is my beautiful K6 ,got a deal back in 07 for 4.2k. Been looking for a cheap all year hack,i don't think they exist,I went to see GS500 at a local dealers i'd seen on Fleebay [which didnot sell at over £1400.,]it looked like it had been kept in a salt bath, the front forks were totally shot ,bounced well couldn't of had a drop of oil in them, the rear swing arm was like a lace curtain as you could see day light through parts of it.this bike was advertised as having a new MOT!.Not many years ago you could get a reasonable bike [or car ] for a few hundred quid. So when i see used bikes for telephone numbers i think i only paid 4.2k for a brand spanker.

not at all true, I got a reasonable ER5 for my boy for £265, battery wheel bearing and carb clean, runs wonderfully, it's possible to get going for very little money.

Cheers Mark.

that's you problem, wait until someone has cleaned up, and sorted a bike and it'll cost more, you have to be a bit more creative if you want something really cheap, I saw the ER5 under a trap in a front garden and knocked at the door

My XJ900, £375, cleaned carbs, new battery, bit of fettling and a tyre. Less than £500 in it and so far about 6000 miles on it.
Had about 5000 on a GPZ 500 big box of death that was only £220.
Got a lovely SV for £550.
And plenty more but the above are just ones I(or MYC) have kept and ridden.

If you're prepared to do a bit of work the cheapies are out there. There is no worse value for money than low end secondhand from dealers it seems. £1500 for anything you look at that wouldn't be worth £600 the next day, and chances are any warranty issues would not be covered as they'd be "expected with age", though I'm prepared to be told otherwise on that point by any resident dealer types.

steady on what ? it matters nothing to me, what you pay for a bike, the point I thought clearly made was bargains are out there, if you put some effort into finding them, as to the "trap", contextually it's pretty clear what the spelling mistake is, but if it really bugs you try this

Well when you ask "what sites", don't assume that to get anything cheap you can be so lazy as to do everything on the net!
