This is true, and I did think of Nathan, but I've never had him overtake when I was considering an overtake. It's always a case of I've seen a blind corner, and decided I don't want to die, and am obviously waiting for visibility, and then Nathan overtakes everyone at a billion miles per hour. I don't feel endangered by him, just sorry for the damage caused to the sound barrier.

On the checking mirrors before an overtake point, I now make sure I check my mirrors everytime I overtake after one time I was doing 65ish in a 60 so already breaking the speed and went to overtake some bikes in front, whacked on the indicators then did a quick half arsed glance in the mirror and noticed a police bike right up my ****.. safe to say I **** myself and cancelled the planned overtake Luckily he was after the gixxer that had blasted past me at a ton a minute or so earlier...

for the reason you gave above you should be checking your mirrors all the time not just on overtakes etc.etc. i check my mirrors about every 10 seconds, it only takes a quick glance.

it's the same as the people who only look about 20ft in front of them. if you don't look as far as you can then how are you supposed to plan your next move. i never look at what's in front of me as it's always in my peripheral vision i'm looking at where the road is going as far up ahead as i can if there is a bend up ahead then i'm looking at where that bend is likely to go by looking threw gaps in foliage, other cars, telegraph poles etc.etc for an idea. if i cant see where the road is going then i use caution. unlike the 'bubble people' as i like to call them who think the world ends 20ft in front of their noise.

I don't look in my mirrors when I'm ragging it. Things tend to come up on you quite rapidly, and a half second glance in a mirror seems to become a 5 second confused stare when they're vibrating themselves into a blurred oblivion. But yes, other than during those periods of frivolous riding which require full concentration, constant mirror checking is essential! How else would I know if my make-up is in good order?

nope i'm still checking my mirrors while ragging it as the boys in blue are sneaky fecks even more so those with the unmarked superbikes. but one tell tale sign is they don't stick their leg out unlike almost every single power ranger these days

god bless the knee down brigade

Are you a textiles man then Bibio? I am, but that's because I'm cheap. Plus I don't need any knee down action. My legs are so long, if I stuck mine out, I would hit oncoming vehicles and pedestrians.

nope.. full on cowhide in black with black boots, gloves, black lid and visor all all of which nicely cotted in bugs. i cant get kneedown action as i have the opposite, no matter how much i stick my knee out it would never ever touch the tarmac and if it did then i would be crashing

This should keep you safe from the bends

On a serious note, when someone overtakes me on a bend, my bumhole shrinks and my right knee kinda jerks up towards the tank.....and I start sucking like an expensive mechanic through my teeth!
