Sh!t buddy, sorry to hear that. Its a b!tch having to sort out all that stuff again but, you know, it could have been worse. And trust me, it has happened to the best of us. Only next time remember to take some video footage when you decide to crash so we can sit back, have a cup and tea and watch Hope you get the project back on track soon.

Thanks Runako, had her up and running around today and figured a few other things out. As someone said, fine tuning is half the fun and it kinda is. Yea didn't have the Gopro on yesterday...would have made for entertaining tea drinking vid. Just touched up the fairing for now. Stator came in today yea! Wont be till the weekend to take on that quick project. Should have the AD tank on as well. Keep ya all posted.

Only damage was the lower faring and broke the back peg and slider. Four week old paint job. So at least I can fix that soon. Bugs the crap out of me already. I blocked off the waste gate completely this morning, re-wrapped rear exhaust and turbine housing to notice a good 5oorpm gain in boost signal. I took off a bit "spirited" and did a dognut and before I knew it was looking at the clear blue sky! Crap I say! Ok used more explicit words to be truthful. After taking it home it drove fine. Today also was my first day taking her over 125mph also. Once maintaining speed it drops to 3psig. However kept it under 6lbpsig to get there...quickly. Turbo bushings holding up well. Lots of room at top end. I have 2 extra teeth at the drive gear as well. Licking my wounds and getting ready to repaint the fairing and re-make the inlet to the turbo. All else fared well (no pun intended). Oh well

Sounds good apart from the accident, Im impressed

Thanks for the cudos on the video and yes, the music was probably a little over the top and not many's cup of tea! I've got almost 800miles on it now and although excited to get the stator back, now I want to continue to drive it with the stock one one till about 1000 and dyno it with it on at where I've been keeping boost at 7psig. The thought is to dyno it again with the lighter stator and ADtank on it to go 10psig which is about where I'll cap it.
Two things I've noticed over the miles. When I keep my wrist out of it and drive it normal with my usual gunning it at times and I cruse on at 95 or so, I'm getting about 3 miles more to the gallon consistently. I expected about that gain or so and that has come to fruition. However I did not expect it to be so cold blooded. Granted I drive in the mornings at between 15 to 21 degrees F to coffee. Never gets a chance to get up to good operating temp and takes me my higher speed traveling into town (12 miles) just to get it to normal temp. Not real sure why but i have my speculations. Even driving around town in traffic it wont get up to temp unless the ambient temperature is 55 or so. I'm putting a real temp gauge on it tonight.

I've become more comfortable with keeping boost where it is and its drive-ability is mostly normal other than the cold issue. The electric oil pump sounds and acts broken in and hasn't caused any problems and in fact draws less amperage now. So far so good... other than my dropping habits

Good progress report. I imagine its one of those projects that you truly can't tell what's likely to happen until it does so although I wish that nothing breaks, I'm looking forward to seeing what refinements you decide to make in time.

Is your thermostat knackered or old? SV's normally come up to temp fairly well.

A water-oil heat exchanger helps the oil get up to temp faster and may be good to keep temps down once you start pumping some heat into the turbo.

I tend to think YC may be right, the stats are designed to fail safe (open), and normally it does warm up reasonably quickly. For interest I fitted a ZX6 oil/water "cooler" here , I was aiming at getting the oil to warm up more quickly. The effect wasn't that great, but for your application it might have more merit when "pressing on".

Thanks guys that helped with some thoughts. It seems the thermostat works right I just don't like not having a gauge to see exactly whats going on. I have some J and K type thermal transmitter sensors I thought I would try and get on in or adapted to the cooler where I can plug it in to my Fluke Meter.
As to the oil/water heater I was thinking somewhat along the same line. I made one somewhat similar for one of my other bikes. I also don't have water cooling the turbo cartridge although it has the fittings for it that may also be used since it would be a nice conduction process. Plenty of heat right there coming off the turbine side. None-the-less it drove me kinda nuts today.

Thanks for the input it was helpful. It's nice to get others perspective and ideas when frustration kicks in from my end. Plus, I've needed to walk away from it more and not get to obsessed. As I sit here now I should go out to the lathe and finish the PR/blow off valve but I'm a bit pooped on the project. It's been a wee butt load of work. However, I've been enjoying driving it even though I still have more things to do to get it all right and have my fail safe systems in place. I shall carry on.

Is it wise to have a water cooled turbo with no water hooked up? Doesn't that make it an insulated turbo?
