Experience is what you get just after you needed it.

As said by others, the most detrimental aspects to warming slowly is fuel dilution of oil and condensation (initially on the bore surfaces but then in the engine internal cavity).

The only benefit to waiting a short time is that there is often some form of start/cranking enrichment on top of normal cold running enrichment, the afterstart enrichment usually ramps down (FI engines) in no more than 10sec or so, it's there to establish a stable idle after cranking. Wait that 10sec so you are riding/driving away without the afterstart enrichment. That 10sec is the period when cold fouling of plugs is most likely, put acceleration enrichment on top and it can sometimes cause fouling.
