Is the steering damper on the BMW a factory thing or did you fit it? I remember ones like that on old RD200s I think.

Steering damper was OEM too BTW.

Not really built anything new but I have done a nut and bolt restore on this over the past 18 months. Why? I was 17 and riding a scabby AR125 when these were first released. I dreamed of having one of these or an NSR250 but no chance for a spotty teenager with a part time job in McDonalds.
Roll on 20 or so years and I was in a position to buy a second bike purely for fun. I was aware that prices of 2 strokes are going through the roof so it was basically now or never. This thing was a right mess when I got it but is now pretty much pristine. These are great to work on as they are so mechanically simple and I still think they are one of the best looking bikes ever made. Riding wise they are fairly useless 95% of the time but on the right road on the right day no other bike I have ridden comes close. I would also like to get my hands on a TDR one day but like everything 2 stroke prices are starting to get silly... Also love the BMW - that kind of conversion is another step up in skills. |
