The new SV is really growing on me, its strange how something can initially look so ugly but give it a few months and you find yourself wanting one. Nakeds are a grower for me too

To be honest mate, I didn't think it looked ugly, just a little plain, nothing quirky like the MT-07. However it has grown on me and it gives you a blank canvas to add a few touches to personalise it. Nice simple design.

Allow me to put it this way, I normally change my bike every year and initially bought the SV as a relatively cheap "stop gap" purchase. Enough to say that I have absolutely no intention of changing it any time soon. 7,000 done so far and the more I ride it the more I appreciate the qualities of the machine.

I'm intending to keep this too Geoff, just in the process of fitting some wheel stickers with a touch of red with the sv650 logo and the tank pad, off out for a blast in a minute

Hi Geoff, I don't know if you have a video up anywhere with the sound of the fuel can you've bought ? I've managed to speak to Louise and they've just updated there website to include the diablo. I'm not after a really loud sound just a throatier sound. I think I read your running yours with the baffle in, from the looks of it the cat is under the bike just wondered how much you thought that affected the sound ?
Loving the bike the more I ride it, big improvement over the pointy I had but not too impressed with the stock tyres. Also going to need a belly pan but the pyramid one is gloss black and the ermax in Matt is twice the price.

One of the first things that I did was to replace the stock tyres as I found them to be very "wooden" in feel with very poor feedback. I fitted Michelin Pilot Road 4's and am absolutely delighted with them. The feel or feedback from them is a revelation especially in the wet (we get a lot of that here) and with 7,000 up they are wearing well and I confidently expect to comfortably achieve 10,000 from them. The Fuel Diablo That I am running with the baffle fitted gives a lovely deep tone without compromising that all important low down torque that is so essential to the SV,s appeal. When I was at Fuel we did recordings of the can both with baffle in and out but I would caution against these on two counts, 1) Recordings do not give a very accurately represent the true sound of the can. 2) The recordings are made with a brand new can which will sound different (better) after a few thousand miles. For what it's worth I think the Fuel Diablo sounds terrific without being offensive and is a very high quality piece of equipment which I would have no hesitation in recommending. Hope this is of help.

I'll be running michelins next Geoff, might leave these on for a few miles though as I rarely ride in bad weather these days unless I actually get caught out in it. I may even get a set of the PR2's as I've had them on other bikes and loved the feel. I did hear the FUEL video which I take it was your bike so that's on my list, I do like the yoshimura alpha too but it's nearly 200 quid more for the carbon. I also need a belly pan and rear hugger, so it will be ermax or the carbon look alike from puig which seem a reasonable price.

Have a look at the standard black Puig hugger, I have it fitted and it looks like original equipment. We tried the carbon but preferred the black.
