Just a note to say that Annecy is a lovely town, handy for Alps etc, but........... I have done the Auto-Route run down to Lyon (not to Annecy - carried on to Briancon area) on a bike several times. It is a fecking long way!! I reckon on 8 hours to Lyon if you are doing 100mph. 2 hours then to Annecy? Thats a lot of miles for day one and you have the same on the return trip...... probably too much for a long weekend.

i may be coming across as a bit of a head case here but, come on, its a long way not a long haul. i have ridden from london to plymouth and back on the same day it was wet windy and horrible took me 7.5 hrs but it wasn't that bad.
if your all talking about riding some of the best roads in europe with some of the best weather and the best ppl then i am up for it! long way not long haul!

Looks good but it's one helluva long way if we're going Friday and coming back Tuesday.
