I'm back with the RAC!

Bike wouldn't start on Wednesday evening. Called RAC - they came...they saw...they fixed.

I'm happy!

I never used to be in any breakdown schemes, having a father who's a mechanic and a fair bit of technical knowledge myself, I allways thought I would be fine. Through bitter experience I know thats not the case, as even if you do know whats wrong with the bike, if you cant get the parts necessary for repair and you are stranded on a motorway, you don't really want to pay out for a recovery.

I'm not currently covered, but I intend to be soon by the RAC.

Have not been stranded at the side of the road in some considerable time (and last time it happend I managed to get home having fassioned together a "fuse" with my leatherman)

Am currently with whoever First Quote / Equity Red Star use. Have not needed their services but just needed something that could get me to a garrage, so that's them then!

I recently had to use my Carole Nash recovery after getting a puncture. I can honestly say they were infinately better than the AA in every aspect. The people on the phone knew what they were on about and the recovery guy was great.

NCI for the passed couple of years.

First year £25, this year £30.

Used twice, first time 20 minutes, second 35 minutes, dedicated motorcycle mechanics and vehicles (one of those van things that drop to the road surface) each time.

Covers roadside assist or pickup anywhere and take to anywhere (no mileage limitation).

I know it sounds a bit naff, but they do talk to you as if they know you're ****ed off at being broken down.

Carry enough on the bike to get going from the minor stuff, but can't do my type of mileage without something like this.

I renewed in March after checking out all the competition, read the small print, as some look like the same cover but aren't.

Cheers Mark.

Me and the Mrs have joint cover from the AA for the car, policy covers for bike as well so never changed. used them 3 times for bikes(including being towed home last Saturday after the diesel in the tank incident) have never waited more than half an hour for them.
