I'm interested in this for when my PGCE ends next year. Gotta make an appearance at some point and show I'm not the ass my friend made me out to be a couple month back . Do you take tents / sleep in youth hostals??

previously when I did this we took tent with the occasional stop in a hotel... but given it was me and my partner that was easy enough...

campsites that we stayed at were pretty cheap and usually had good facilities and were well marked on the maps which is always a bonus...

and the difference between a biking holiday and going on holiday on a bike is???

lots of european mileage... bring it on...

I can see the next tour splitting into 2 groups already...

those with top boxes and room to carry the beer and those without...

funny you should mention the top box... theres a yellow sv parking in torrens street each day as I get into work... now its parked there today with a TOP BOX on it!!! wahey!! Im not the only nutter out there lol

I prefer panier bags cause I like mine wide rather than tall, only problem is last set I had on my GS500 were burnt through from exhaust.

Surely need something, a backpack couldn't fit everything in??

eh.. have panniers but not put them on the sv yet... maybe its cos there in a container in liverpool... but i travel tall and wide

top boxes are useful for storing documents esp. when it rains... there are some who will argue against a top box... but its a personal thing....

I dont like backpacks... dont like the idea of landing on one.. unless its just full of clothes... that just seems like asking for a back injury to me... so its top box, panniers, tankbag and stuff (usually my tent) bungeed to the seat...
