i can see why i guess, i still think the amount of money some people must have spent still seems well OTT, but each to their own.

The reason I bought my SV was that it was reasonably cheap, it was good looking & reasonably quick but most of all, wouldn't cost me both arma and a leg to insure it!!

I modified mine a little. Bit-by-bit.
I always did one mod at a time & that's why I could afford to do it.
Granted, if I bought everything at once I could no way have justified it!!

what a full faired bike? why buy an sv?

maybe i just dont get it ive got a different can now, seat cowl and hamicad. but i cant see the point in going much further. i love the way the sv looks, thats one of the reasons i bought it. and its fast enough for me. if i had the money (which some people have spent) and wanted a faster bike, i wouldnt buy an sv.

dont get me wrong, i love it. but i cant see why people change it until its almost completly a different bike.
After all the money I've spent on a new SV and the moding, it still cost alot less than say, a sports 600... especialy if you take into account insurance

Ok the SV is never going to match a sports 600s power, but a modded SV with upgraded brakes, suspension, smoothed engine etc is half way there for alot less money

The other thing is, I already have an SV. If I want a bike with better suspension, I can spend £400 fitting all the Ohlins bits, or I can sell the SV and probably get £2K or so for it, and have lost out £600 on that deal, and then go and buy another bike. Economically it's better to upgrade.

Also, IMHO, the Sv's a fantastic bike with a couple of drawbacks- suspension mainly. You can get an SV and fix the suspension with top noth parts for far less than it'd cost to get a better, equivalent-age-and-condition bike.

And lastly, this is my personal favourite effect... Last time I was up at knockhill, in the mornign I was the lone SV among various race bikes, race rep 600s, supersports 400s, litre twins... And I got the **** taken out of me slightly, until people noticed details, like the ohlins shock, the full system (at this point I'd quietly say "and it's all titanium, as well", and then they'd usually be a bit more impressed
