I borrow my Nephew. Gives my sister-in-law a break for an hour or so, and having a kid to slap gets me some respect in the check-out queue

Have just come back from Lidl. Bought myself a tank bag (£6), a set
of weatherproof maps (£10), and a back protector (£20). Didn't take
the boots as had difficulty zipping them up (too narrow at the top);
I noticed that other people had difficulty zipping them up as well.

There was quite a crowd of bikers at the shop and it took me a while
to push my way through to the goods. I think I got the last tank bag.

Last year I participated in a similar event and bought myself a pair
of gloves (£5), a chain with a lock (£9), and a rain suit (£10). Note
that the Lidl chain has the nice feature that it fits (just) under
the seat of an SV.

If you miss the deals at Lidl today I believe that Aldi's have similar stuff for sale next Thursday at the same prices.

I've never shopped at either Lidl or Aldi's but talking to SIL last night, she buys loads of electrical, IT, gardening etc stuff from there and recons that the quality is usually really good espeically the IT stuff, and you can take it back within a year if anything goes wrong with it and get a full refund (without receipt!)

Somebody told me that Aldi has now become the leading retailer of PC's
in Germany.

Okay I've just got back from Lidl's. It was like stepping into a supermarket in Eastern Europe - horrible.

The gear? Don't waste your time. This is the most god-awful cheapo trash I've ever laid eyes on. The bloke next to me looking at the £5.99 tank bag, said "at this price you can't go wrong can you?" - wrong!

The gloves are plastic, honestly. Protection? I think not.

The boots are rubber, no armour whatsoever and are expensive for what they are.

The jacket? Oh how I laughed (while thinking that I'd just spent four quid in fuel to get there), complete crap.

So for those optimistic souls that haven't twigged yet: DON'T BOTHER!!!

There again, I suppose that should have been obvious from the start really .
