Gave up with the expensive stuff on the bike as I didn't notice too much diff (there was some)...

The car is a diff stoey though...

Three tanks of Shell V-Power, now using normal shell fuel. Went form 600km's per tank to 700km's per tank. I'm happy - just hope it stays

Sorry, the change in fuel is not the only variable, since signing up for the IAM test etc. I've been trying to ride the "proper" way. Additionally I'm doing less stop/start as I'm avoiding the commuter crush.

i get between 100-150 miles to a tank.

By rough calculations city trafic is 100 miles to a tank so about 30-35mpg and other times i get about 150 miles to a tank so about 45mpg, i dont realy care the millage i get as long as it is above 100 miles to the tank.

Most of my travel is in the city with tonnes of lights between me and my destinations. So its never going to be great, on average i tank up about 1-2 times a week depending if i go out on the wends.

It's a lame topic but to be topical I was amazed at when I took it relatively easy I achieved 75 mpg over 600 miles. Try that in a car!

My running costs...
In the last 22849 miles I've used 2198 litres of fuel... that's 47.22 miles per gallon (10.4 miles per litre)
(2000 SV S, ridden 50% motorway, 50% B roads (usually commuting))

Do you ever go more than 30mph?

Mine is decidedly less impressive - I'd be lucky to get 110 - 120 miles on mine.

Others will testify as to my speed/riding style. Don't think I'm known as a kerb-crawler

Ah, but what mpg are you getting? I ask because the Hornet tank is notoriously difficult to brim properly due to an air-space at the top of the tank. The last half-litre or so has to be dribbled in very slowly unless the filling station allows you to sit on the bike so that you can rock it gently from side to side - a movement known as "The Hornet Boogie".

This is part of the reason why road testers complain about the poor tank range.

On a recent mixed motorway/A-road run through the Cotswolds I fill-up at 176 miles and the fuel light still hadn't come on......worked out at a little over 58mpg.

And it wasn't me who had to stop for fuel on the last S&WS run out
