As for the question about the police putting the details on a national computer, this is true, to an extent. They'll register the bike as stolen by it's registration number, and if they're good, by the chassis/engine numbers. This'll be on the PNC, which all forces use, and is what they use when doing vehicle/person checks. To be honest, this'll only be of help if they either haven't changed the number plate, and the bike comes to the attention of the police, or if someone gets nicked and the bike is recovered that way.
At this stage, to be honest, they probably won't pro actively do anything.

Just had a look through Loot online, and eBay - nothing on there I'm afraid

I will keep looking for you though..

WRT to the Liquid Nitrogen chain freezing - an absorbent cover would stop this? Or anything soft covering the main chain.

At the end of the day, there's only so much you can do If they want it, they'll have it. Maybe a good idea is to get a PC webcam type device and have it recording your garage or driveway when you're not in, with a motion activated security light. That way if someone does nick it, you've got pictures of them.

I saw recently (might have been on here) that some guy used the same technique to catch the burglar who had previously broke into his house 3 times. The police recognised the face and he was convicted.

Leigh,

I will most definately keep an eye out for you. I now it's over the other side the pond, but where I live, we get at least 10 to 15 of the little b@st@ds every weekend trondling up to road and into the forest. (To which I'm sure it's these ****ers who have tried taking mine)

Anyway, I will keep an eye out on my travels.

It's the time of year for the rats to come out of their hole's

The cable was a Xena plastic covered cable. The plastic showed signs of burning/melting, so maybe they exposed the cable strands first, then froze it B*stards
Good thinking, have added Reg No to first subject heading
