It has a much less aggressive posture than a SS, certainly.
I don't find it uncomfortable at all in town, it gets a little cramped on motorway journies but is ok for scratching because you pay less attention to your comfort.

I reckon the things you should waste your money on first :P are a rear hugger, a tank pad and some frame protectors. although the lower fairings look cool, it makes maintenance and cleaning more difficult. Which is why mine is so minging

Im a bloater and tried adjusting the preload, I just made it feel worse, so I went back to factory settings and it feels ok I think

I reckon the stock Dunlops will see your first 4 or 5000 miles ok without wasting money on tyres.

That will come later

Just make sure you save enough money to have an endless supply of fuel, so you can ride, ride ride

ENJOY

Never riden a SS, but I have been told it is a comfier riding position. My discomfort is probably a side effect of being a lard ****. But I find that just toddling round town and in traffic makes my lower back ache after a while (10-15 minutes). But now the sun has come out (sort of) I've been riding for hours out and I have very little trouble. I think its all down to each person at the end of the day.

So after thinking about what a lot of you said i have decided to not get that lower fairing as it costs 60 quid more to insure and there is too much to damage on a drop, anyway the black frame looks good so why cover it up.

Instead i will get some good crash mushrooms, some decent leathers and maybe a hugger though it will be for looks only as i am a dry weather rider

Definately a hugger, because around Derbyshire they are busy spraying the roads with wet tar and scattering marbles on it

Although I sort of said you dont need a lower fairing, they look cool especially on a proper (curvy) SV :P

As most drops will be low speed, like in towns at junctions or trying to do a u turn you will be surprised how strong they are. I dropped mine on a trailer after a track day & the bottom fairing took the full impact. it has a few scratches but its fine otherwise.

Na the fairing is staying off as i would rather spend on better leathers but gonna take a look at Motrax mushrooms as they sell motrax at the showroom....i will just get em to throw in the ground hog 3 anchor and mushrooms as well cos they give you about 120 quid worth of free stuff when you get a new bike from them

I wouldn't bother with the motrax shrooms if I were you. The general opinion is that they're not even worth the effort of putting on and the bolts can't even stand the specified torque.
