If I knocked bits off everyones car who ****ed me off in a day, there would be no room in the trailer for the load. You just have to read the road properly, read others anticipations and read the many clues that are available.

Indicators only need to be used to assist other motorists, there is no need signalling left after overtaking, its obvious that where you are going. Watch a policecar, they very rarely indicate left at a roundabout, where else can they go?

Indicate before an overtake preferably after checking your mirrors and before you move out.

There are some *****s on the road, the bit I enjoy is anticipating their movements.

Im a truck driver
I drive a Volvo car
I ride a motorcycle

Hmm... IMO everyone going on about the highlighted text are just being 'holier than thou'

The way I understood his Statement was that he looked in the cars mirrors for a while, driver never got his eye then as he was almost onto him the driver pulled out.

Do folks really catch the eye of the driver of every car they go past while filtering or overtaking. From where I'm sitting I don't think so.
The only reason the situation arose , was because the drive did not do his basic check.

Cheers
Ben

...but then again I may be completely wrong and Trick can put me right.
No but like I said its a good indication of whether or not a car driver has seen you or not, If you dont think they've seen you then why ride up their chuff "1 cars length behind" surely better to give yourself a bit of room or if you arent sure about whether a car driver has seen you then dont assume that they have.

I have to agree with Quest, you lot are picking at bits of what he said.
So this all depends on what happened and how, now if your going along and see a gap opening up on your right my first thought is, someone will move into it so as you you approach the car that is along side the space you think right give him a wide birth just incase he moves . But then what do u do sit there all day just incase he does No. From what trick said he looked to see if the guy was giving him some "indication" (I like that word) that he was going to move, he did'nt so he went. But thats when the BMW guy moved now unless your spider-man when a car driver moves without indication (that word again) ppl get p....... off it just depends on how you handle it
Was his reaction over the top maybe......

Sorry Frizz but again we don't know if Trick was filtering through alot of cars (10,20 or miles) how do you give the car driver a wide birth besides hanging back for a bit to see if the guy is going to move

well put. whenever someone does that to me I dont presume its all their fault for not checking, I ask myself whether I was riding appropriately and assessing the risks and if not what I can do to improve that.

I wonder why the persons presuming its the drivers fault with no thought to the fact that on his approach he was constantly looking and knowing the guy hadnt seen him, yet he continued to get closer at a speed that he had to then brake hard. Bad judgement on this occasion imho.

And the question arises why the person wasnt riding expecting everyone to try to kill him, anticipating the worst or being prepared to stop. I see it constantly down the A13, people doing 40/50 in the bus lanes. Its insane, anyone does a turn you end up like the Aprilia rider Ping witnessed hitting a car.

As said before, being in the rights no good if thats whats enscribed on your tombstone or the eulogy at your memorial service. Remember you will come off worse in a car/bike encounter. Also think about the other bikers following you who now have to deal with a seriously ****ed off driver.

And what concerns me is that people think its justified to do criminal damage to someones car without any thought of the consequences. Would you like it if I got out at lights and ripped your indicators off cos you zipped in front of me without signalling and it ****ed me off?? I seriously doubt it, so what makes it ok to do it to someone elses property?

So they didnt look. You should have anticipated that and rode accordingly not carried on riding the way you were. Its a fact of life of riding on the bike - people will do this constantly for whatever reason - cant see you, see the gap, etc.

Im not saying this in a holier than thou way. Only as someone whos learnt this the hard way and would prefer others not to.

If the response is one that you usually get from BMW driving ********s then removal of mirrors for is fair play in my book... Anyway, with modern cars, if you just knock the mirrior bacwards it "unclips", leaving evertyhing in tact but you have to get out of the car to fix it - So it just becomes an inconvenience, nothing is actually danaged.

And like he's going to keep up with me in traffic

.
i think thats all i managed to do to him anyway, thinking about it.
and just to clearify i wasnt one car length directly behind him, i was one car length behind on the white lines so if he had stopped i wouldnt have gone into him. thats why i was so ****ed off. i wasnt doping anything wrong, wasnt going stupidly fast adn i even asked CALMLY why he didnt see the qimportance of signalling and he gave me the finger, so i think it's justice done.

I agree with Noufy too.

I must say as a biker I tend to try and be more overt in the way I drive if bikes are around, i.e. I will indicate where its not required if I'm uncertain the biker isnt about to nip round me or something.

anyway, another day, another problem.........
