lets see if anyone knows their Suz history).
Are You talking about the RE5? original with GT750 style clocks or the hideous tube that opened when the ignition was turned on?

Im intrigued by the fact youre seemingly under the impression Hondas are bullet proof. While they have that reputation theyre certainly not if theyre not looked after like any bike [cue 2 of my mates that have destroyed 3 CBRs between them ]

oh and they have a tendency for the rectifiers going the older they get. add on age problems and they are like any bike. generally better build quality to start with but not a guarantee.
Only because they are the only bikes I've never lost money on .

As the saying goes 'there is no smoke without fire' and generally Honda bikes seem to be just that bit more reliable and able to take more purnishment :P . I'm not saying I treat my bikes badly.

Your mates must have bought duff ones .

Cheers
Ben

Ah excellent...The RE5 was Suzukis rotary engined bike. It's odd that the Wankel has never caught on. If they were so effecient then why keep blowing up and why use so much fuel? Not that effecient then.

I do not believe that Hondas are any better in the long term than any other Jap bike. Sure, it may take longer for the paint to flake off but reliability is not a Honda trademark...The GT550 is a good point and so are the oil/air cooled suzook GSX-R engines.
