Another tip to keep your feet warmer and dryer is to use a pair of supermarket carrier bags!
Stick one over each foot, inside your boots and it'll keep your feet a little warmer and dryer (not always 100% dry as there's normally holes in the bottom of the bags!).

Good in an emergency, but this could induce your feet to sweat, and you still end up with damp feet/socks. Been there, done that one.

its very good for an hour or so, but any longer than that - you really start to feel the cold.

I have a pair of waterproof over socks that I wear. They REALLY help and because they are not made of plastic they do not provoke your feet to sweat.

Ordinary latex gloves under decent quality winter gloves are a popular choice. But with my Pathan 2-fingers and heated grips I've never felt the need.

If you're still cold, whenever you stop at the lights, get your hands wrapped around the engine cases. Looks stupid, works brilliantly.

Never. And I mean this. NEVER buy Frank Thomas winter gloves. The perfect combination of expensive, bulky and cold, topped off when they removed all traces of durability and most of the protection. Awful.

Coldkillers gear doesn't seem to be any good at all to me. But the sensation when the over-the-mouth of my coldkillers balaclava gets wet from my breath is strangely erotic...

I'm seriously looking at those heated vests with the integral 3 hour battery... Compatible with the company's own heated gloves too, so you get both off a single power source, and they work off the bike. But not cheap. I'm doing a short commute just now so there's not much point but I'm still tempted.

IMO riding when you're really cold isn't just unpleasant, it's downright dangerous. Your reactions and observations will probably be well down and your attention is more likely to wander.

Anyone got a good fix for the speccy biker? I've got a fogcity so my visor's clear... But what use is that when my glasses have gone opaque? They're hygrophobic lenses so they don't mist as badly as my old ones, but they still mist. I'm thinking I'll get a Foggy or Respro breath mask, my HJC had something like that which worked quite well...

I use Holts anti mist aerosol on the specs, works when coming from a minus 20 celcius freezer to the 10 degree plus outside.

Hygrophobic?

Because of the helmet/specs conflict and the fact that every time I come out of the freezer at work the condensation renders me blind for 10min or so, I'm on my second day with contact lenses. My current insertion/removal skill level means that intermittent blindness is a far better option, but I'll persevere...

I've got a foggy in my shoei, it really does stop your glasses fogging up

You must make sure its a good tight fit to your nose and face otherwise you'll endup with a gap and you'll get fogged up
