sorry Jelster, I meant that at least the points will be cleared off so no worries on the totting up. Let's face it, a conviction for 145mph is going to affect your insurance! Still, I think that he was fairly treated.

Didn't someone go to prison for 147mph? This guy got off lightly if you look at it like that. Wonder what a prison record does to your insurance?

just reading into this... apparently home office type approval for speed cameras only applies to england and not any dependent areas!!! surely that means that every single conviction in these areas is unsafe and should be overturned?

I thought so. I was under the impression that 30 miles over the posted limit = a ban. 60 miles over the posted limit (so, on a motorway/NSL dual carriage way, 130mph) = automatic "dangerous driving" and hence the possibility of jail time.

I'd also point out in relation to the original story that "going straight from the slip road to the third lane" is fairly subjective. Did he teleport there? No course not, he moved there via the other 2 lanes. How quick does it have to be? If it's clear and you're going to overtake traffic in lanes 1&2 (which at those speeds, he probably would be), surely it's the right course of action. Looks like a case of, "he wasn't actually doing anything dangerous, so we'll call his manouevres into question to sex the story up a bit." to me...

This is just another example of the overwhelming superiority of the SV_ you won't catch us getting banned for doing 145mph And if we do, we've got a pretty good appeal!

...Or some pretty flash tuning work on our bikes.

I agree, I like to think of it as "incapable of jail inducing speeds"
