In short - NO!!!

I normally like to use just 2 fingers, brakes are normally good enough to get all the braking I require like that. However as the SVs brakes are poor and the leaver has lots of travel, I am therefore using all 4 fingers on it as it is (and hence most of the leaver).

I want to be able to use just 2 fingers as I have better brake and throttle control that way.

Er, when the brakes are bleed and all is well, you dont. Ok, they aint the std of better 4 pots, but they do the job of stopping an SV pretty well. I can lock the front wheel easily enough and to me, that means they work. Woth the right bads, and hoses on, i really dont see the problem.

I was about to say sounds like your brakes need servicing, I do mine 2 fingered... Though I think they need servicing too but thats due to road salt making the seals **** and pistsions lock.

Also if you get better springs and oil in the front it will improve your braking as you get better feed back from the front suspension not giving up under load.

I have changed the pads and the fluid. The bike is also fitted with braided front lines (a 3 line affair mind ). I have also greased the pins in the callipers. The pistons are not seized.

I can do normal (light) braking 2 fingered on the SV, but anything more and I touch my remaining fingers with the back of the leaver, so go for the 4 fingers, it shouldn’t need this. I also have uprated springs and emulators in the forks. so I am still not convinced!!

So I think I am looking for a master cylinder that has a piston of ~18mm … anyone know a bike with an 18mm m/c?

But what do the numbers mean?!?!? If it is ID in inches, that would make the SV one ~16mm?
Yup. Probably

But, like I say, it's not just about bore. Mine's a 16mm, but the pivot point and the stroke are different to stock.

I think you have to much travel on the brakes leaver... which ain't helpin. I have a mate who does mine as I can never get it right, after he's set it up you could almost stoppie the bike with even the smallest of dabs...

Sure, but I'd be willing to try a 18mm standard Nissin on the presumption everything else is equal if someone knew a bike that was fitted with one?

2nd had stock master cylinders can go for pence!!

I did wonder if mine was a non-standard leaver too as even though I have the span adjuster on max, it isn’t really that far out ...
