Another reason to give parked cars (and especially vans) a wide berth - you get a much better view of a pair of little legs that might be in front of the vehicle on their way into the road.

As has been said, whatever happened to the Green Cross Man?

Yes, I agree with everyone else - a bunch of nonsense.

I guess it would have been all my fault if I'd hit the black Golf that pulled away from being parked to do a u-turn right in front of me this afternoon. One of the nearest misses I've had - managed to stop literally millimetres from the side of his car after an emergency stop that, for once, I didn't lock my back wheel for.

The irony being that I was only moments from the hospital which I'd just been working at all morning (handy for me) and by coincidence just at the end of Sid Squid's road (handy for my bike).

We are of course responsible for looking out for ourselves - but I agree that this particular ad is putting an unfair onus on us to make up for other people's stupidity.
