Never add the eggs to boiling water they crack.
I don't like the yoke runny so I let them boil up then leave to simmer for five minutes.
Poached eggs now there's an art form.

one tends to ring one's bell, request a runny egg and soldiers from jeeves and about 5 minutes later i have an egg ready to eat.

can't see why there's a need for a thread about it?

True of many things on here

But it is Idle Banter and there more than 20 posts in the thread already.........besides, Delia made a whole 30 min TV prog about it not that long ago. If she thinks its worth that then it must be worth of discussion on here.

Mind you, I'd rather boil an egg than watch Norwich

What's that all about?
Are they saying that... you're boiling away your egg, and then you decide that its cooked, so you give it a quick belt with a spoon and they egg ceases to cook from that moment on?

Cause that sounds unlikely to me boss. Highly unlikely.

Yup - with modern factory farming methods the egss now have miniature chips implanted in them which respond to the sharp tap of the metal spoon and immediately close down all cooking functions*

Well, why not? It's about as likely that the desk on which I'm typing comprises lots of things I can't see bumping into each other...

* Actually, it just lets the heat escape which has built up inside the shell while cooking but I actually prefer my explanation.
