Ah, the joys of living in London!
I would have found another insurance co...its not Carole Nash is it? They insisted that i had a garage and also where £150 dearer than what i pay now!

I'm 23, living out in the sticks, garaged SV650K6. Licence held now for around 6 months, 0 no-claims, no accidents, no points. Homeowner & drive a big car with dependant kids (which in the eyes of the insurance firms, means I have a reason to live). £330/year FC

£900 is with eBike and are by far the best quote - everyone else was around the £1800 + the garage costs! The SV was fine on the drive, but a brand new R6 - no-one would touch it with a barge pole unless it was garaged or I didn't include theft insurance!

It's not so bad - I have a lot of space to work on bikes now and I don't have to have put them back together by the end of the day (which is nice). Also despite the fact that I'm covered, I really don't want the bike to get nicked. I have space in the garage for at least another 2 bikes, so was considering sub-letting, but at the moment, I don't trust anyone enough!

I approached the local council (Camden) and they said that in the immediate area around my flat I had no chance even more so since I needed it for a bike. They did tell me though that they cost was 25 p/w or there abouts. Had a look on gumtree.com and it was pure chance that some guy was trying to rent his garage about 5 minutes walk away for 30 p/w.

So, yes, it was easy, but then again, I was damn lucky! It does have it's downsides though - no electricity or running water.
