Steve McQueen ! Yes that's Bullit.

I think you need to be educated about the King of Cool, may I suggest you have a watch of the following:

On any Sunday
Le Mans
Bullit
The Gettaway (bonus Ali MacGraw )
The Sand Pebbles (no cars or bikes, just a cracking film)
The Magnificent Seven (see above)
The Great Escape (obviously, even though Steve didn't do the final jump, that was Bud Elkins)

Ronin, but that's probably cos I ain't seen Bullitt. Must get round to it sometime.

The Bourne Supremacy had a good chase in it as well.

Oh come on now people - Bullitt, every time - though I'll grant that if Steve 'Greater God' McQueen had never graced this earth then Ronin would cinch it.

There was a gret 'Homage' to the Bullitt chase done with someone chasing a remote controlled car that was either a bomb or the triggering device for a bomb. Awesomely well done - so good in fact that I can't actually remember the rest of the film of hand!

I'm glad that no-one has mentioned the travesty of a chase sequence that was the Matrix sequel's CGI'd melodrama.

The Bond one (Living Daylights I believe) with the trashed out Renault deserves a mention, as does the Pearce Brosnan 'Bond' bike sequence (though possibly because of the idea of having such a capable pillion ).

Clint Eastwood as Dirty Harry in "The Dead Pool"

Oh and Bullit gets my vote!
