NOTE: the statement above is just what this dude told me, so just putting it 'out there' ... I haven't read up on it to confirm or deny ... but it makes sense ...
I had chicken pox when I was a kid and still got shingles later on. I don't think it was a particularly bad case though.

That's not quite what I meant ... you can get shingles if you have had chickenpox before, but 'shingles' isn't transmitted ... shingles is a personal thing which is a re-inflammation of chickenpox but in a different guise ... it just happens to some people and can be induced if worn down and/or stressed ... basically it's chickenpox that is contagious, not shingles ...

This is my understanding anyhoo ...

Close. Apparently shingles can be passed on to anyone with a reduced immune system like pregnant women, children and the elderly, or anyone that hasnt had chicken pox. Most people are fine though

Good, as I fall into none of the above categories, I could snog me mate if I wanted and still not get it!!

Anyhoo, hopefully if you caught it soon enough a few days rest and you will be back up and running again ... just out of interest have you been run down recently? (My mate was majorly run down when his kicked off).

Yeah, it started when I was half way through a bad cold and a long weekend with my gf...

Who says it can be caused by stress
