Yeah, fair play. I've always wondered why they don't just grease them from the factory, and put it in the service schedule, since it's so simple and cheap to do... But then, I'm not the head of a huge corporation

The pic in the link's an aerosol can, but it's actually a tube of grease. You just pull out the plug lead, and smear a little around the rubber seal (you'll see what part I mean if you do it ) Takes a little time to do it the first time, but once it's done you only need to do it again when you change plugs so it adds no time to the servicing. Once it's done, you can ride through rivers without missing a beat (well, I've only done that once...) or through a hundred feet of floods deep enough to get your feet wet. I don't recommend that you do, but you can

Well, I don't have one Official. This, if done right, is a 100% fix.

I don't have one either, just greased up the plug thing after the front plug tried to play me up once and i've never had a problem since.

You are one in thousands of happy people with the SV. nothing is ever perfect, and its a minor, easily fixed problem. Yes its annoying, and no Suzuki dont want to know. On the pointys they put a token flap on it. Id say stop ya whinging, get yourself a $15 fender extender and get out there and ride!

I have to disagree here.

It is up to Suzuki to make their bikes waterproof...not the rider.

It may be an easy fix so why don't Suzuki do it?

We are just having to do what Suzuki were to lazy or complacent to do.

Every motorcycle I've ever owned has what Microsoft would call "Undocumented Features" If you get upset every time you find one and discourage people from buying a good bike on one aspect, you will be chopping and changing bikes rather often while chasing your Unicorn....

Fix is documented and rather easy to do, lesson learned, move on, nothing to see here

Well money isn't any part of my whinge, unless Mrs Tiger and I are discussing grocery shopping, but yeah, the extenda is part of the problem because I flat basic don't like the look of the thing. If it needs to be done I'll do it, but if I can solve it another way I will.

That still wont stop me whinging though and it wont stop me from telling people not to buy new SVs. No more money to Suzuki until they sort it. It's the only language these people understand!

Oh and I am getting out there and riding - on my wife's CBR125R because my bike wont be fixed until Thursday. But don't get me started on that.

Wot? Like Carb Icing? I understand if the bike was new and faults had cropped up but we are talking over 7 years here.

Also the front cylinder going on and off can be considered very dangerous.

Overtake...no power...on a corner...front cylinder pops in...
