I'm looking and trying to come up with a cunning plan. Main problems:
a) 200m from starting line (numb bum & fatigue to do before the ride)
But it's only about 150 miles to the Ponderosa. Then the run mileage on top.

We're going from Rugby, which is only 20 miles closer. Haven't got accomodation sorted yet either, but what the heck.

10 sounds ok to me Baph.

Hovis has got the real Sv, just the wrong colour

Where is this Ponderosa of which you speak. AutoRoute says Uuuuh Uhhhh.

EDIT: Ok just looked at teh google map again and it's "somewhere here" apparently. Basically the other end of the route to the end I expected it to start at. And it's 'only' 135miles (via Rugby ) Hmm only accomodation to sus then or I could do a 1 day suicide ride.

2mths "Umms" & "Aaahs"

And what's wrong with Red Pointys ?

2mths, Ponderosa:

If you're coming on the A5 via Shrewsbury, get go through the town centre to cross over the river. Once over the river turn left. IIRC, that puts you on the HorseShoe Pass, but memory is a little fuzzy of that area. Double check this bit.

Once on HorseShoe, you'll run along the side of the valley, steadily climbing. Then the right side will drop away completely, and there's a few nice twists (the reason the HorseShoe pass is liked by bikers). As you're coming to the top, on the right hand side, the only thing that stops you flying (literally) if you run too wide on a bend is a couple of small white stones. This part is pretty steep as well. Look out for nutters on IL4s that know where they're going & want to go there at warp speeds.

As you come up the top, the road will straighten out, over the crest & you'll see a building on the right side. Take the first turning into this car park & you'll see my blue pointy, probably parked next to Luckypant's blue curvy (along with anyone else that's already there).

I might be able to sort something out for accommodation if you're stuck short.

Thankyou for the instructions. You've scared me now. Don't worry about accomodation. It's very kind but really I'm thinking out loud and if I get really stuck I'll either tought it out or find somewhere quiet to sleep. Shame the SV only has a side stnad. With a centre stand you can just park up then go to sleep on the machine (funkin uncomforatable though and you're likely to wake up in pain).

Can anyone tell I've had a drink tonight?

What I mean is that I know a couple of folks that run some B&Bs etc. Can't promise anything, but if you're finding it hard to get somewhere I can ask.

I also know a fairly local hotel owner, but you wouldn't like the prices.

Also, don't be scared by HorseShoe pass, just take it steady & move over for the local riders. You'll be fine.
