Welcome from one new member to another! Sorry to hear about the blokes at Headingley. Don't let them put you off.

Cornering and riding ability comes with experience. After a while you'll be surprised at how you've improved. There's also lots of good riding tips on the internet. Try http://www.survivalskills.clara.net/rskills.htm this site's one of the best. Also you could buy "Motorcycle Roadcraft" for about £11 from most good book shops.

Just a couple of technical questions. How much pressure should I have in my tyres? I normally check the pressure to my tyres on my car every couple of weeks but have not done so on the bike. Do I just pump it up same as a car??

Second, what should I be looking out for (maintenance wise) on my bike. Not done a thing on it since I got it (not that I would know how to anyway), but just so I have some idea?

Third, How the hell do I paste on to here. I want to respond to a couple of the messages on this thread??? So till I figure it out (I'm hopeless)........

Mrs fud, hope you get back your confidence and get back on that bike!! I fell off on my way out of the car park at work once. Shook me up, but not as much as the other incident, so I know how you feel.

Gazza 77, my bike's yellow on an 02 plate. I'll try and wave back ....if I dare take my hands off the handlebars

36 PSI for the front tyre and 42 for the rear. I don't trust garage pressure meters so pop into halfwords and get a pen type. Cheapest and most reliable. The digital types need calibrating so don't trust them either.

Servicing depends on when your last one was done.
I'd suggest talking to some of the folk on here and maybe getting a hayne's manual. At the very least it'll help you avoid the rip off that some dealers will try.

As for the guys in Leeds, just gun the engine if that happens again. A nice exhaust and some aggression usually sorts muppets like that. A bike isn't as good a weapon as a car but the added menace of a screaming engine can intimidate most of those cowards.
I had someone grab me by the backpack once and only managed to stay on the bike and pull him off his feet. He let go and landed on the road. I didn't bother going back to check on him.

To quote someone you just click on the quote icon at the bottom of each post.

I'll keep my eye out for you, though don't think I'll be out on the bike for a couple of weeks till after my exams.

Welcome Melody,
Been on this forum for only a few weeks and have found the people are helpful and very friendly.
Don't be afraid to ask any questions, you will get good honest advice from this lot .
would definately recommend the AR07, as it's a good way to get to know people and learn more.
