Do you want to RISK frying your bike, just before, or at the AR? If not, you need a relay. If you are prepared to take the risk (and it could even fry the Reg/Rect or Ignitor etc - the expensive bits) then don't use one.

You decide.

Fine, but the only bike I intend to be working on at the AR is mine So I'll now have to plan what I want to use that relay for

I'm happy to oversee someone working on their bike, but I don't want to fubar their pride & joy, so I'm not getting my hands dirty on someone else's bike (unless they get really really stuck).

you wont get your hand dirty, its booked in for the kwak treatment ( plus you can wear those stupid ruber gloves)

i can manage with supervision (thats what my school report said anyway)

Mine is wired in using a little 15A 12v wire (Maplin again). Also a 40A automotive fuse, and a number of insulated spade connectors (get the blue ones, they fit nicely on the relay pins).

Where's best to mount these little beauties. What's likely to sound best; 1 magnum; 1 magnum + standard; 2 magnum or 2 magnum + standard?

Regards

You only really need one magnum. They're pretty loud. I don't know about mounting it on an SV, but on my Speed Triple, I just unbolted the standard meeper, bolted on the magnum in it's place and reconnected the wires. I don't believe that you need a relay, but you could fit one if you want to be really certain that it won't blow any electrics. I don't think that anyone on here has had problems though.
