![]() I only mentioned 2 in fact. The STi 22B is the correct model designation. It had black wheels and was very, very fast. |

I understand that the official 1/4 mile time for a 22B is 13.60 secs.
Not sure if that beats a standard SV. Reckon it would be pretty close. |

This thing had so much torque beyond 60mph. I was matching speed upto 60 and then he must have hit the nitrous button or something as it flew off wheelspinning all the way up the hill. Was mighty impressive, if a little worrying that a 4 wheel drive car with electronic gizmo's in every cubbyhole could get so out of shape. I reckon ehtey cost about £40k, so I did feel rather smug that I was on a £5k bike and not doing bad upto 60.

When me and my mate on his R6 were out around this time last year, we came across a Subaru P2 - for those that don't know, it's the higher than top spec, £40,000 beast.
And the man in it was a professional... if he wasn't, he should be! My mate being the hot-headed person that he is, raced him on a stretch of road that was a mile or so of dual carriageway, island, and repeat. I was miles behind but was just in range to see them go around the islands, it was a sight... a random car in the middle, the Suraru sliding with it's back-end out around the OUTSIDE of the car, and my mate cutting in with his knee almost down on the INSIDE of the car! It looked brilliant, but rather them than me! |

I guess someone has to own one - I have a wagon turbo 2000 AWD. Its quick, nowhere near the quickest ones and its nothing compared to my blade! It has a farty exhaust too! doh Its my everyday car - tows the crf around great and is fun to drive when there is no traffic around!

A couple of my mates have had Impreza's.
The first one had one of the old UK Turbo models that was 208hp and with the weight of the car and 4WD transmission losses felt slower than a Civic Type R in my experience. Indeed my Clio 182 can pull on them easily. The 4WD just gives them falsely flattering standing start figures. Anyhow he sold it and bought an 02 GSXR600 with the money and paid for his DAS. He did less than 500 miles on it, sh*t himself and never rode it again. He is now working abroad and AFAIK it is still sat in his parents shed. The newer version of that model is the WRX which I think has around 225bhp now? Performance is similar to that of the top hot hatches but with a tiny bit more at the top end. Once over 100mph they are pretty much identical to an SV. Another friend of mine bought a P1 and let me drive it a few times. That was a special prodrive limited edition model. Has around 280hp but is 3 door, rare and much lighter than a WRX/STi. Performance is similar to a 22b. I had my SV at the time I drove it and would say the SV felt quicker to 100 without a doubt but over 100mph the Impreza would leave it easily. A guy in an Evo VI tailgated me off a roundabout when I had my SV and I blew him away on the dual carriageway. I hit 100 and shut off but he stayed on it and undertook me obviously feeling a bit disgruntled. All of those things are SS600 fodder but I would be wary of messing with the top Evo's and Impreza's on an SV. |

So we are agreed that the SV has slightly better performance than a lot of
cars on the road up to about 90-100mph? What is your fascination with the fact that the SV may begin to struggle over 100mph? Do you honestly need to accelerate hard at these speeds? For those that have forgotten, there is still a speed limit in this country, and I understand that anything over 100mph usually results in a ban. I think some people are living in a dream world. ![]() |

We have the Ring Road around here and most of the time you ever get to race someone properly it is on that dual carriageway. Usually starts from 40mph off a roundabout and these people have serious ego issues so won't stop at 100...
Even from 80 if you are side by side the SV will struggle against the quicker cars. I agree with what you are saying about speed limits but what most of these boy racers (the ones with big budgets) do in real life is completely different... |
