This reminds me a bit of a thread a few months ago where someone said he felt he was "reaching the limits of the SV" because he had it up to 120 in a straight line
![]() Not quite as bad (just talking about speed off the line here) but still! |

Mines 33bhp, i get a run for a few yards then get battered, best thing as i've heard from others(almost there myself) is like Hovis said, smaller sprocket(need), R6 Throttle(done), Can(done), 2nd and 3rd ignition retard(needs to be done and want to be shown), like others have said you'll be lucky to beat him after he hits the powerband. You might wanna take him into some twisties then see who's quick

IMHO, let him get away from you off the line. He'll get away from you easily in on a straight no matter what you do or how far ahead you are anyway.
Then come the twisties, literally ride rings around him. His bike will be faster, more sports like, and generally better to ride hard, but the SV will still out corner him with a half decent pilot on board. |

Like Baph says let him get away, i find myself unable to keep up with unrestricted bikes on a straight due to 33bhp, but once i get to twisties i can get into a flow and a rhythm through them and catch right back up, i had a yellow VTR1000(not Viper) pull up to me on lights, he seemed to wanna play, battered it off the line, he went but seemed to be a girl through the twists so i caught back up and seemed to scare him when i was on other side of road into corners and he let off lol. Bless him, then so that i didnt feel a mug on the straight i pulled in at the petrol station lol.

Just be careful doing it, and give yourself time to get safe again (on the correct side of the road). |

taken from http://www.sv650.tk/ enter site, click on mods, then click on ignition retarder mod first things first you will need 1 or 2 tools a small electrical screwdriver electrical insulation tape or heat shrink a set of tweezers or a contact pick tool ok, now that you have the tools go and open up the rear seat on your bike now you will see the ignition control box remove the ignition control box connector now on the multi plug there are two wires one is a red wire with a yellow trace, and the other is a green wire with a blue trace these are the wires you have to remove, on the wire end on the top of the multi plug they are number 3 and 4, so get your tools and use the tweezers/contact pick tool to release the pins on the multiplug, then pull out the 2 wires one by one now using your insulation tape/heat shrink cover the contacts of the wires that way they cant earth/short out on parts of the sub frame/chassis tie wrap the cables back on to the wire loom they come from just for tidiness (optional ) I didn't do this as it started to rain plug the multiplug back in, stick on your seat, and start up the bike, and while sitting with the clutch in, go up and down the gears just to make sure that the bikes not cutting out or doing anything irregular next step take the bike out and enjoy the extra throttle response and power in 2nd and 3rd gear!
