Im speaking ofcourse from my perspective.... Yes if i get a 1000+ IL4 itll beat my SV all over for torque and power (and i will also need about £2000 insurance as well). If i get anything smaller than 750 cc IL4 a SV will beat it upto about 9k revs in power and torque.... SO what im saying is i can go for a Sv1000 and have a engine thatll pull from any revs like a train and hammer along at a decent rate of knots OR i can get a Gixxer 600 which has no low down go (reletivly) and needs to be at 10k+ to get anywhere near the performance of a Vtwin at lower revs. Who cruises around at 10k revs +?

Okay, here's the torque curve for my Daytona 650, in standard form. I think it's pretty impressive. It would be great if someone who knows about these things could superimpose an SV torque curve.

Ive kept up with R6's upto 120... And they have 40BHP more... Explain that one :S And i KNOW he was going for it.
![]() I think for acceleration power isnt so much the key its how its delivered and imo V2 delivers more user friendly power, infact ive heard it said a LOT that damn it dont feel quick till you look at the clock... That seems to be how effortlessly the V2's pull. Most people for that reason go for a screaming IL4 because you can hear you are thrash it and so i guess people like thrashing it to do the same thing. But i dont like thrashing about, involves the gear lever too much ![]() Maybe im wrong, but then its ultimatly down to what you as an individual wants. If i was sooo bothered about out and out power id probably go for something silly like a Gixxer. If i want a bigger usable power range then V2 is for me. ![]() |

The SV is an 'easier' bike to ride in some respects as it does pull from low and thus you can afford to be sloppier on gear changes. If you want to kane it on an IL4 then gear changes are more important. |
