SA........

As long as the key boys stay fit, Burger, Matfield, Habana, Smit then I see no reason why they cant win.
Even a few injuries to those key boys will meen they wont win, there is not the super quality depth to the squad that is needed.

And I just saw this :

http://www.skysports.com/rugbyunion/...721023,00.html

Dont think that it will stand up though, IMHO he went for the ball and wasnt looking at the man, unlike a certain England man..........

I wouldnt say say that TBH. The second half was pretty clean from the SA side and I never ever liked that blonde dutchman schalk burger anyway. Yes he is good but he is also a very dirty player at times.

he can be dirty but hes still my fave player. He has the same reckless abandon that Wilko has except hes a massive forward!
And hes only 23/24!

Well deary me, what a dissapointment? Tonight I went to a bar to watch a sponge attempt to beat down a wall.

England had a one off team 4 years ago let's remember that. The rebuilding process has been a complete disaster since that fantastic success 4 years ago.

England's game is all about forward domination and as they have not rebuilt properly since 2003 they were always going to struggle when the big boys came to call. A Head Coach promoting a game plan that is 10 years out of date will not see such heights reached again people.

But do not despair totally, this is only the qualification stage. Beat Samoa and you go through to the qualifyinbg stages.

However show such lack of ideas and commitment and Samoa will also tear you apart and hurt you big time with their tackling.

The best chance for a northern hemisphere side progressing with pride is IRELAND. The euphoria and home advantage will not be enough for the sweaty arm pitted French.

except for Jason Robinson who looked like the only man in a white shirt trying to do somthing different, such a pitty he had to pick up an injury though.

England never stood a chance, they are lucky the score wasnt greater. Samoa will have high hopes for their clash, I think they might even be worth a flutter! Remember a stronger SA team conceded points to, and score less points agianst Samoa, than England, just a few days ago

Erm, excuse me, I was watching for the game - only I couldn't find it...

... neither could the England team it seems.

Not quite a one-off - the team had been developing over a number of years (based around Johnny's boot !!)

That's the basic problem - Andy Robinson didn't do any real re-building. So Brian Ashton has had to do what he can in about a year. He hasn't been helped by injuries - but hey, that's all part of the game !!

Whilst I agree with you about the French (I think they'll be lucky to get out of the group stage). I thought the Irish made a right meal of beating Namibia - almost as bad as England's very dodgy win over the USA.

Unless there's some drastic improvements the only way I see a northern hemisphere team progressing beyond the quarter finals is if Ireland manage to win Group D & Wales finish in the runner-up spot in Group C thereby setting up an Ireland v Wales Quarter final !!

From an Englaish point of view I think once this world cup is over probably close to 2/3rds of the current squad need to be told "Thanks - but your time is over" & we should spend the next couple of years developing the Saxons players so they can step up.
This will be difficult because there will always be people screaming that we must win the 6 Nations etc etc.
I say B*LL*CKS - work on building the team & the results for the first 2 years don't matter if you end up with a potential world beating team !!

BTW - I don't believe England struggled this evening - they were comprehensively destroyed !!
