Surely now Stepney has no future at all in any line of motorsport? I heard he was looking to open a second hand car dealership in Hertfordshire.

Very interesting since McLaren are waiting until this has been published before they decide or whether to appeal or not.

One thing is certain and that's all the facts surrounding this have certainly not been made public by the FIA. OK, McLaren have very deep pockets and some mighty sponsors that most of the F1 pit lane would kill for so a £50 million fine, although substantial, is certainly affordable. Question is, how many of the corporate coffers will stick with them if it's evident they've cheated? The £50 million fine may just be the tip of their financial iceberg.

(And to make matters worse, Raikkonen is quickest in this mornings free-practice, Hamilton second quickest with Alonso third. Massa crashed.)

I think Bernie Ecclestone hit the nail on the head when questioned about this subject. If it was Super Aguri and Spyker involved in this no-one would give a flying ****. Slapped wrists all round and that would be the end of it. Probably wouldn't even make the news.

True, but they aren't challenging for the championship(s).

Apparently their budgets for a season are $500 million, so if they lose 1/5 of their budget that is a massive loss............

See this for me highlights whats at the core of whats wrong with F1 at the moment, its not about driver skills, racing or anything like that, its about money and sponsorship.

Looks like Alonso and De La Rosa were also guilty partners.

Beats me why the drivers are still allowed to continue battling out the championship while the team has been disqualified.

What would happen if Super Aguri stole from Ferrari? I bet the fine wouldn't be anywhere near as much.

Surely the punishment should reflect the crime, not how much the guilty (allegedly) party can afford.

Yeah but this isn't a criminal matter is it. They've dished out as much punishment as they can without making the team have to pull out.
