I like the idea of the tl lump in a 750 frame, but surely part of the attraction with the sv is the price. If ure after a poweful lightweight twin that isnt built to a budget surely ure after an sp1 or 2?

I've been told the Sv1000 s has been dropped. Whatever is left in stock and that is that. Although I'm sure a Big Vtwin will be back in the lineup soon.

These are the states 2008 models, due here in Jan/Feb. There is no SV1000 or Half Faired Model in the books. Price is up $400 for the new model.

PB were reporting the same the other month... Stories of the thou being dropped have been around for ages, even Suzuki can't make up their mind, so who knows?
The SV's still selling decently, I don't think it's about to be dropped, but for the first time it has competition, so they've either got to change it (even if only cosmetically, to attract interest) or do what they did with the Bandit and just forget about it for years, let it just dribble along. Personally, I hope they do tweak it- it'd be a real shame to just let it fall into obscurity. And it seems like common sense dictates a 700cc motor, to let them get rid of the twin-spark (which adds cost and complexity) and to get some solid advantages over the Kwak. 750 starts to get to the point where it could be offputting to noobs though. So, Mystic Northwind predicts, a makeover in 2009. Lazy 700cc motor producing just barely more power than before, but with more torque, mainly to beat the emissions laws. Slightly better suspension- the same kit as off the GSR maybe, but still not cutting edge. Otherwise, cosmetically different- maybe GSXR-ised? but fundamentally the same, still in the 70bhp, sporty noobmobile/girl's bike bracket it used to own. They don't need to reinvent the wheel.

Dumping the SV range to introduce an a+s kicking 600cc V4, do Suzuki have the cojones to do that? I wait eagerly to see just who will introduce a jaw dropping V4 and I'm sure it can't be far off with all of that technology gained from Moto GP. It is rumoured very strongly that the 2008 Fireblade will be the last of that particular iconic model.

Not according to Cupar M/C's they're not. The gist of it was that.....Been a bad year for SV sales all over. They have surplus stock which isn't shifting and a glut of SV trade ins. These new models with full kit has devalued the 2nd hand market considerably. They're seeing buyers go in with a view to the new SV but most are buying gixxers. The 0% finance & free insurance on the Gixxers has made matters worse for SV sales.
