Indeed it is a glacier. (Studied Geology, amongst other things. Not as boring as you think; Field trips at college = 1 day's work, 4 days in the pub. Not bad for 16 )

I really, REALLY want to go on one of these rides...

That was fantastic, Tim. I really enjoyed the pictures and reading about your trip so thanks for taking the time to share it with us (I read it while eating my lunch).

I've just got back from my first ride abroad and I can't wait until next year to do more of the same. Don't think I'll be quite as adventurous as you, though.

Fantastic pics and write up Tim, it's something to really enjoy especially with the colder/darker nights upon us

PS go there now before the Top gear hoardes descend.

PPS the great road they enjoyed before the Stelvio pass was the Fluela pass followed by the Ofenpass.
