However the rubber hoses have probably been on there for at least 5 years, it is recommended that they are only used for 2 years.
The hoses as they wear will have some 'give' in them so this is probably a factor.
No point getting fresh rubber ones as they are actually more expensive than a HEL kit, which are lifetime guaranteed, IIRC they even come in yellow if you're a bit of a tart like that.

They're not expensive, its not a hard job to do, so get some bought.
Yea, I still think there is some air trapped in the system. I'l look into HEL lines (but I'm not getting coloured ones, no way!). Cheers

If you think there is still some air in there, try old 'zip tie the brake lever back to the bar overnight' trick. Helps to banish lingering air bubbles.

You know what, I did try that a week ago. No improvment. How hard should I have the lever on? I'll try it again and see, but I'm doubtfull

You can get a reasonable lever with std lines.
There's something else going on, either calipers need rebuilding, carriers bent, discs bellowed or pattern lever.

Have you got the air out of the 'back' of the master cyl? if you flick the lever whilst squeezing the reservoir tube, if youve emptied the master there will be air here, this bit effects the initial takeup of the lever

Test the condition of your rubber hoses by getting someone to pull on the front brake as hard as they can and then examine the lengths of the hose to see if there is any obvious 'bulbing'. If there is then your hose is knackered.

I got a set of Goodridge braided lines on ebay for £40 back and front. The only thing I'm not sure about, is the front is from the pedal to the caliper, what about from the pedal to the resevoir? Doesn't that need to be braided too for consistancy?

Hi Mike, I presume you mean lever when you say pedal?

For a reason I don't know the resevoir pipe is ok standard, because it's not part of the braking process I guess.

Have you got the two line front set-up? IE: both lines go straight from the master cylinder.

The reservoir is not pressurised and feeds fluid into the system by gravity.
