![]() More shiny bits today. I have been polishing. Well I say polishing, this is instant polish spray that I bought through the Dark Net from the Ukraine. The instructions are dead simple. Quote:
This is the outcome. ![]() ![]() Accusations that I did it with a pair of old pants and a tube of Autosol cannot at this time be verified!

Tie it down or else if a passing magpie happens to spot it, it'll be gone!

![]() ![]() Guess what I have done? ![]() ![]() ![]() I had a bit of help from my friend Sian, a former SV650 and 1000 owner. ![]() ![]() This just jumped in, along with a gorgeous set of Koyo Roller bearings (Thanks for that YC) and plenty of grease, only the best too, a lovely dark orange goo that is super sticky on bearings. ![]() ![]() Along with these bits, which fell off the front of a track bike (Thanks Squirrel Hunter) and plugged in nicely. ![]() ![]() Incase you are wondering, yes it was cold, yes it did get dark and no we do not have power in our garage. This is why I am wrapped in mountaineering gear and was toasty warm while poor Sian and Carol shivered! ![]() ![]() On full lock each side, there are no clashes with other frame parts, but then I am still to refit the fairing, which is where it could all go Boobies up! The clearance between the risers and the tank is still Rizla paper, but it is there, so no problems come MOT time. ![]() ![]() My next set of jobs are as follows. Fit the front wheel, fit the brakes and bleed both ends of the bike (I think that I have an air bubble in the hose on the back), fit the Mud guard and then fit the fairing back on. Then I have to sort the rear mounting speedo system which I have had a lot of advice from our dear Bibio (Thanks Lance). So things are looking good, but it will be a few days before I do anymore, I have over done it again and now cannot move!

I am not capable of much today due to back pain after yesterday, so instead I asked others to do stuff for me. My good friend Rich carried both of my wheels out to wifey's car so that she could deliver them to our friends Steve and Sue Down at Bridge Motor Services.
I got to know Steve and Sue when I first started riding motorbikes in Weston, when I popped in while riding my mountain bike to ask about help with my banger of an old Yamaha (Oh how I hated that bike!) and they have both been lovely and have offered so much help and advice with the work I have done to my bikes. They have made and supplied parts for me and are always happy to help, no matter how busy they are. Today Wifey, Sian (who celebrates her 50th Birthday today) and I dropped off both front wheels with Steve and Sue and then wandered off for a Birthday Lunch for Sian. When we returned (not reeking too badly of gin and tramps!) Steve had changed the nearly new tyre from my old SV wheel onto my new R1-SV wheel. He promised to fill the rim with obscene words and doodles of genitals, but when I returned he sadly said that he had not had time to do so. I guess I will never know until I need to change a tyre. ![]() Once Wifey had loaded the wheels back into her car, we headed home. Once home I discovered just how heavy the standard SV wheel is! The R1 wheel and tyre weighs in at just under 11KG, the standard SV wheel with no tyre weighs in at 8KG. Now for something strange about human beings. My mountain bike is a high end Giant XtC Team edition with Marzocchi Air oil forks. It weighs in at 12KG, which was not bad for a hardcore bike back in 2002 when I built it. It is one kilo heavier than the R1 wheel with tyre, so why does the MTB feel light in my hands, but the motorbike wheel feel heavy? If I was doing a blind test, could I tell the two apart based on their weight and how they feel? I have no idea, this is just me rambling! Anyway, here is a wheel ready for fitting as soon as I am fit enough to do so. I hope that it will be this week, but I do not know at the moment. ![]() It does mean that I can start sorting out my bits for sale page!
