Re: 'Ere 'ere is the EAR Megathread
Thanks for that GSAK
Yes I did know its an F but am really grateful for the rest of your comments. I did ask the guy about the headlight and he said it isnt Uk spec, its got tape on one side of it. its never had a problem with MOT so is this something i need to look into further do you think? Ive never looked at an import bike before and that side of it is my only concern. Apart from the clocks and headlight is there anything else I need to be querying? Thanks, KJ x |

Re: 'Ere 'ere is the EAR Megathread
To be honest i would just get a uk spec headlight of e bay as i doubt that it would cost much as saves tapeing up each year.
A lot of these were used as track bikes so make sure its not a track bike with good bodywork put on. Badly chipped wheel rims, lockwired sump plugs etc. Has it been jetted to suit the pipe(is it road legal?) Again more a bargain point than an issue unless your mot tester is strict. to be honest a lot of imported bikes can be better than uk bikes(less salt on roads etc) You will need stickers for mph on the speedo if it doesnt have them as well. Not sure if this is a legal thing or not? Two of my wifes bikes were imports and to be fair they were both cracking bikes. It is probably hard to by a bad cbr of that age but if it looks abused then it probably is. Stainless downpipes are a big plus as well on that bike. Hope it goes well. brand new headlight for 95 pounds, maybe use as a haggle point http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Honda-CBR-600-...item588ca5c732 Last edited by Gordon72; 13-03-11 at 06:50 PM. |

Re: 'Ere 'ere is the EAR Megathread
Well, we've been and had a look and gave the guy a thorough grilling, and from Friday I will be a Honda girl!!
Thats not something I ever expected to be saying but the bikes worth the money, its local and it'll do everything I need and more!! Gave the bike a really thorough looking over, theres a few scratches on the rhs fairing and mirror, but nothing to indicate its been chucked down the road at any time. New tyres (pirelli diabo strada), pads (front just been done, he's giving me the rear pads to change but not needed straightaway), can and downpipes, full serice at end of last year fluids, coolant, oil, fiters, the usual!! C&S very slightly rusty but 30 mins with the paraffin and they'll be good as new. Starts a treat, no ticking, clonking, tapping or other such sounds when rev'd. A few spots of rust but only in the paint, couldnt find any to cause proper concern. Its been well maintained, just needs a bit of kelly-love to get her to her best So far the shopping list includes new screen, Haynes, rhs mirror, seat cowl, touch up paint, lens for headlight (I immediately wanted to rip the tape off so wont be able to live with that for long), crash bungs and heated grips. Luckily its my birthday in 6 weeks I really thought I would be bikeless for at least this year and although for the time being I'l only be doing really short trips, I'm just utterly thrilled. I'm back on two wheels Whens the next meet?? |

Congrats KJ, Sounds like a lovely bike
By the way MCN had a test on r&g heated grips last week and rated them and i think they were only £35-40 Last edited by Gordon72; 14-03-11 at 08:14 PM. |
