Re: The Cycling Thread
Aye it got tricky at times, keeping my breakfast down was a challenge! The final 6K is the finish to TdF Stage 20 this year and I rode down over Col de Lescheaux which is at the start of that stage as well.
I'd like to ride it again in a better state, to do myself justice on the time. |

Re: The Cycling Thread
I don't need anymore encouragement to do stuff like this, don't put ideas in my head

Re: The Cycling Thread
Don't forget to add some trees and a cafe for added realism. You always need a cafe stop don't you, wouldn't be a ride without a cup of tea and a piece of cake

Re: The Cycling Thread
An idea is starting to form. I was just going to put my rowing machine and tv in there but a turbo hooked up to some kind of simulation thing would be excellent.

Re: The Cycling Thread
Does anyone know (or indeed have) a touring type bike I can borrow / hire? I need a bike for a charity ride that has come up at short notice.
The bike needs to have racks and ideally panniers as well, be around a medium in size (I am 5" 9') and be available for at least a week. I expect to put around 500 miles on it. Any ideas or suggestions would be welcome. |

Re: The Cycling Thread
Mike, I've got 2 frames that can take racks, my winter bike has compact set up, 50/36 plus 28-12 at the back. 9 speed
That's ready to go The other one will need building up, although I've got enough parts to do this. I've got a rack that will fit, but no panniers? How soon do you need it by?

Re: The Cycling Thread
I could sort out some panniers I'm sure. I'll need it by 11th most likely. Things will be confirmed by the weekend. It was looking like I may have needed it by this weekend but that's not likely now.
Many thanks for the offer, how would we arrange transport? Might be easier to ring you? Sent from my phone. |

Re: The Cycling Thread
I purchased something very similar to this...
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ETC-CHROME...item1e7b13167b It takes up to 15kg I believe and mounts onto a seatpost. Whilst I appreciate it is not 100% ideal, it does do the job. It's also not too weighty. If you want me to look exactly which one I bought, let me know and I'll check (it was about £27). |

However all is not lost, I have a box and I can break the bike down and send it to you by courier on saturday, so would get to you by Monday? If I can't do that then get it couriered on Monday? But that's tricky as I don't know what my wife is working? With the cost of fuel, this won't cost as much, although getting it collected on Saturday will cost a bit more. But it is less hassle than driving to meet you somewhere. I'm working away until Thursday, which isn't helpful either Let me know
